RADIO BERLIN

Radio Berlin were a angular dark wave band from Canada that existed between 1998 to 2005. For fans of I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness and Film School.

ELLIOTT SMITH

Being a huge Elliott Smith fan I wanted to post this find I had a few years ago. I found it in a small indie record store in Philadelphia a few years back. "No Name B Side And Live" is a bootleg CD that gathers rare, live, compilation, and vinyl only tracks. Many of these tracks were NOT featured on the "New Moon" album that was just released and featured rare tracks as well. The best part of the album is the last 10 tracks that feature a live set and an interview with Elliott from a KCRW radio performance. Enjoy!

THE EPIDEMIC

The Epidemic was a side project of the multitalented Andy Dixon. Andy is best known for his work in the band The Red Light Sting and his current music creation Secret Mommy. The Epidemic saw Andy "combining an indie rock sensibility with vague electronic flashes and jilting experimentation with arrangements." Be sure to download the album "I Am Completely Operational." It is one of my personal favorites.

THE BLOOD BROTHERS

The Blood Brothers are another band that should need no introduction. Not many bands have had such strong reactions. Whether you love them or love to hate them, The Blood Brothers have made an undeniable mark. They've released five full length albums on just about as many labels. Members have contributed to other bands like Neon blonde, Head Wound City, Soiled Doves, and the most recent Jaguar Love. Below are three of my favorite Blood Brothers records along with the "Rumors Laid Waste" EP which collected miscellaneous songs recorded between 1998 to 1999.

JOY DIVISION

I wanted to post some hard to find Joy Division releases in celebration of the new Joy Division movie called Control. In theatres this October, it was directed by the famous Anton Corbijn. If the trailer posted below is any indication of the film it looks like this is going to turn out to be one of my favorite movies of all time.

LEVIATHAN

Like I had said on my Lurker Of Chalice post, most of the "demos" Jef Whitehead puts out under his Leviathan and Lurker Of Chalice monikers always sound more like fully realized albums rather than demos. The demo output for Leviathan is massive. Check out the Metal Archives to see what I mean. Below are some Leviathan demos I've collected. If anyone has any other demos that are not below PLEASE post them in the comments. I'd love to get them all. Some notes on the albums below: the "Verräter" album is a "best of" compilation from all the demo releases. There are two "Howl Mockery at the Cross" albums below - the 2001 version is the original demo version - the 2005 version is another "best of" demo compilation that has different songs from the 2001 version and also has an amazing Death In June cover. All of these records are highly recommended.
