Puritan was a sludge-influenced hardcore/screamo band that hailed from Pennsylvania in the 90s. They released several split records, one 12" with Reversal Of Man, one 7" with Officer Down and one 7" with December. Also they recorded a Demo and appeared on one compilation. Below is a discography of most of their material.

"The Importance Of Falling" was a compilation released by Monstro Records in the mid-ninties. It featured lesser known "emo" and "screamo" bands of that time. Some bands featured were Mid Carson July, Jazz Man's Needle, Hose Got Cable, Deckard, and many more. It stands now as a special monument to an era of music that I hold very dear.

"Time Has Told Me" is a bootleg collection of 44 rare dark and haunting Nick Drake tracks. This album also includes the highly sought after "Nick's monologue", which is a rare 3 minutes of the singer talking into a recorder late one night.

After watching the Gram Parsons DVD documentary I was intrigued to listen to music he created. The album that really stood out to me was "The Gilded Palace Of Sin"(1969) that he made while a member The Flying Burrito Brothers. Once you get past the band name you will be exposed to a brilliant mixture of melancholy country and rock. Give this album a try; you just might be surprised. Gram recorded two solo records after leaving the Burritos and before his death in 1973. They are both highly recommended.

My friend Paul pointed me in the direction of this radio podcast hosted by Dwid Hellion of Integrity. It was on the Washinton, DC internet radio station Dissonance. The program was from Halloween and features Dwid reading poems, playing music, and showcasing his collaborations with Boyd Rice. Highly recommended. I posted the mp3 below but it can also be found on the Dissonance website.

Below are two of their 7 inches and their recently released LP. To find out more about the band check out their Myspace page and buy some of their stuff. Very highly recommended.
