108 - live in Poland 1996

I found this gem not to long ago online. It's a live 108 recording that was made in Wrodav Poland May 27, 1996. The sound quality is excellent. If anyone has any other old live 108 recordings please get in touch.

Nineties Hardcore and Zines / Burning Fight

After reading Brian Peterson's fantastic book on the Nineties Hardcore scene, Burning Fight, I've been digging into my old record and zine collection. Expect old zine scans, photos and nineties music goodness over the next few weeks. For now enjoy videos from two of my old favorites.

The Mysterious Monsters

I picked up this documentary gem at Amoeba this weekend. Watch the full movie below split into two parts. Here's a short description:
"One of the many notorious 70's "unknown" documentaries, The Mysterious Monsters covers topics such as Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster. Pictures, sounds, and videos of these two monsters are examined by Peter Graves, the host. Psychics, hypnotism, and the history of Bigfoot in many ancient cultures is also scrutinized."

Fenriz / Darkthrone / Until The Light Takes Us

I've been listening to Darkthrone's new album "Circle The Wagons" on repeat over the past week. The new record is a extension of the bands 80's thrash leanings that they've been exploring over the last few records. Highly recommended!

The also highly recommended Black Metal documentary featuring Fenriz of Darkthrone, Until The Light Takes Us, is now available for pre-order at Factory 25. I just secured my copy of the deluxe DVD edition.

DEATH IN JUNE "The Accidental Protege" video

This is one of my favorite Death In June songs set to the haunting imagery of Leni Riefenstahl's film The Blue Light. Usually fan videos are pretty bad but whoever did this nailed it.

108 "Spoken Words"

Anyone who knows me knows one of my favorite bands is 108. No other band has had the deep impact on me that they have. Even today I'm still striving to live up to the philosophy of Gaudiya Vaishnavism that they exposed me to.
Below is a cassette the band self released in 1991. It's a mix of spoken word, demos of songs, and other random bits. I remember my friend Bryan giving me a copy of this when I was 15 and listening to it all the time. Recommended not only for the die hard 108 fans. You may even learn something along the way.
108's new record "18.61" is coming out on Deathwish soon. Even though Robert Fish has left the band recently they are still planning on forging ahead.

IN SEARCH OF...

While searching on Youtube I stumbled across episodes of my favorite TV show when I was growing up: "IN SEARCH OF...". Hosted by Lenord Nimoy, it orginally aired between 1976 to 1982. Being before my time, I was lucky to be able to catch late 90's reruns on the History Channel.
Each episode focused on a mystery like Bigfoot, The Loch Ness Monster, or Easter Island. One of the things that really made the show was the music by Rinder and Lewis. It was particularly effective in creating an aura of mystery and suspense. Think Boards Of Canada only more dark and 70's. Below is one of my favorite episodes about Coral Castle in Florida. More episodes can be found at www.youtube.com/user/g8trman77#g/u.
If anyone has a collection of music from this show please get in touch! There was a record that was put out in the 70's but it was composed of disco remixes of themes from the show. It's almost unlistenable but I posted it below for the curious.
