KURT COBAIN & WILLIAM S. BURROUGHS

In 1992 Kurt Cobain set out to do a collaboration with one of his heroes, writer William S. Burroughs. The result is the now out of print album titled "The Priest They Called Him". It features a 9 minute track of William S. Burroughs reading a story while Kurt Cobain goes at it on a guitar in the background. It's an interesting listen for both Nirvana fans and Burroughs fans as well. Give it a try. Download also includes scans of the album package.

hey nick, i'm glad to see i'm not the only one who finds this intersting. never was much of a burroughs fan (junkie lit, never was my thing, alcoholic and drug rattled yes)but i never let that get in the way of this release. I remember hearing the track on this underground radio station back in '94 and immediately seeking it out for outlandish import prices at the time (as the years would progress i would realize the single wasn't so much of an import as it was an elaborate way to make me spend twenty bucks extra on a single). I still come back to this every now and again, and just let the majesty unfold. it's rather sad to think shortly after this, kurt killed himself and burroughs made nike commercials. what the fuck happened to the counterculture (haven't used that word in forever!)?

i came across this post that someone made about the Vaselines http://community.livejournal.com/blackcigarette/886402.html#cutid1
at the bottom there's videos of the vaselines with nirvana and just the vaselines playing as well as info about them. i'm sure you've probably heard/seen/or knew about it before, but i thought i'd share.
