YA HO WA 13
It was the early seventies and hippie cults and communes were forming all over the United States. In Los Angeles a group calling themselves The Source Family were following a long gray hair and bearded man by the name of Jim Baker, otherwise known as Father Yod or Ya Ho Wha. Father Yod and the Family owned a vegetarian health food restaurant on the sunset strip called the The Source. The family worked together in the restaurant and lived together in the Hollywood Hills. Under Father Yod they also started creating some of the most psychedelic rock music to come out of that era. Their albums are hard to find and sought after by die hard record collectors, sometimes fetching over $1000. Below are a few albums to get a taste of the group. "The Source" album is a compilation of interviews and recordings and gives a good overview of the group. It was taken from the CD that came with the book "The Source: The Untold Story of Father Yod, Ya Ho Wa 13, and The Source Family" which I highly recommend picking up. To find out more about the group check out their wiki page or their official site.
