CANYON

Canyon's second album "Empty Rooms" is a record I've turned numerous friends on to. They reside in the style of such bands as Wilco, My Morning Jacket, and Bright Eyes. Canyon should be larger than all of those bands combined. Listen to tracks 7 & 8 on 'Empty Rooms' and you'll see what I mean. This album gives me goosebumps whenever I listen to it. Think driving down a lonely mid-west highway at dusk while you listen and you'll start to get the picture.

I remember going to a house show (many) years ago, where this band I had heard good things about was playing. The band was Boys Life, and the best part about them was the singer's voice. They had 2 good albums, and then the singer went on to the Farewell Bend. A few years later I heard Canyon and instantly recognized Brandon Butler's voice. Nice pick, Metro/Sea!

That's great. I wish I could have seen Boy's Life when they were around. I'll have to post the Boy's Life stuff I have for those who never had a chance to hear them. Such a great band.
I'll have to check out the Farewell Band. I've never heard anything by them. What label were they on?

The Farewell Bend was on Slowdime Records. Jason Farrell did the artwork, which I remember having mixed feelings about. The cover art was pretty strong, but I think I wasn't crazy about the liner notes. (It drives me crazy when a nice cover is ruined by lazy typesetting elsewhere in a cd package!) I stupidly traded in the cd long ago, but I still have one song off the album:

I wish someone share more by Farewell Bend. I've heard no more than a couple of their songs and haven't managed to get their album so far...

You have really amazing collection of great stuff here! Thanks a lot for all of the bands I haven't even known they ever existed :)

So thanks in advance for Boy's Life ;)

Great! I think they released only 'In Passing' album in 1998, but I may be wrong as well ;)

Could I ask you for re-uploading it on mediafire for me? Megaupload still doesn't work for me...

I'm glad you like this True North album. I posted also Twelve Hour Turn (personally related and the same label) and starting to look for other releases by these great bands...

Thanks for posting this! I've been trying to look for this for quite a while now.

The problem is though the link is not dead, there seems to be a problem downloading it (as in the link takes too long to load & would in the end be unsuccessful). Can I get a re-up? Cheers!
