NATIONAL SKYLINE

National Skyline is another band I've turned countless friends on to. Their music is a combination of dark synth pop and Radiohead elements. Their cover art with lonely and isolated photographs of modern transportation structures fits the experience perfectly. Whenever I listen to their records I think of flying the red eye late at night alone. I can't recommend these records enough.

I have the Castor (pre National Skyline) releases, if you want them. Good stuff. National Skyline is pretty amazing.

I would love to get that Castor stuff! Thanks!
I can't tell you how many people I've turned onto National Skyline. Such a great band. Do you know if what the band members are doing now?

The singer went on to play guitar with Year of the Rabbit. Since then, I don't know what he's up to. I need to find my copy of Castor's second (and superior) cd, Tracking Sounds Alone, but here is their first release for Mud records:

Thanks gregg! Was Year of the Rabbit any good?

YOTR was not bad, but nothing special. Everything about the album was pretty generic. Andy Mueller (ohiogirl) did the album packaging, and it's another case of a really nice cover design not extending to the rest of the art. Here's the one song I kept off the cd:
Last Defense

I've always been a fan of Andy Muller's eary design stuff. Have you :

Do you have a site with some of your design work?

I don't have a Coudal movie about me, but I have my portfolio site:
www.geocities.net/~graphical-design/artists/music-packaging/bands-no-one-listens-to/madebygregg.com

I might have typed that in wrong.

I think Andy Mueller has a unique approach to design that works well with his photography aesthetic. He manages to complement his images with the right color palettes and typefaces.

oh damn, excuse me for being so dense. i didn't realize i was talking to gregg hydrafuse :) your work was such a huge inspiration on me. hydrafuse, apt13, and volumeone were the 3 designers from the scene that really made me get into design.

Year Of The Rabbit was a great band & cd. If you know and like Failure, you won't be disappointed. Last Defense was an awesome song, but Rabbit Hole & Hunted, among others, were also fantastic.
